Craft+Carry Upper West Side

It's a small relaxed place, kind of taproom, with a few seats and very good beer. The staff was nice. Good variety of local draft beer. They also sell beers to go.

For those looking for good beer from local and craft breweries, this is a great place. Lots of options on tap and in the fridge, skip the silver bullet for once and try the real thing.

There is a nice choice of beers to choose from draft as well as from the bottles and cans in the fridge. From Monday to Friday (12-4pm) they have Hoppy Hour with a discount applied to any purchase on draft.

If you're looking for great craft beer - to drink at the bar or to take home - this is the place on the UWS.

Before diving into the beer itself, let's talk about the location ... it's really amazing. The space is warm and welcoming. The kind of place you want to hang out in. I came in for a quick pint and some cans to go and ended up spending several hours there, simply because the space was so nice and friendly that I didn't want to leave.

The staff introduced themselves by name - when has that ever happened - and were super friendly. We talked beer for a while. There are also several TVs in the space, showing everything from old movies, to sports, to B-movies, so even if you're not looking for conversation there's something to do.

Also of note: there's some outside seating and you can bring in outside food.

Ok, let's talk about beer. Great selection of drafts to choose from, and you can order a flight of four it you're not quite sure what you'd like to get. The menu when I was there was heavy on IPAs (no surprise in the current craft beer environment), but there was also a red, a radler and saison for some variety.

But where Craft+Carry really shines is the cans. They've got beers from a wide variety of locations across the U.S. in that cooler. Stuff you can't get on tap. You can either buy a can and drink it there or (for a slightly lesser cost) get it to go. These beers are the true treasures and are absolutely worth the $3 more or so to drink them in store. (And get a four pack to go. You won't regret it!)

If you're not used to craft beer prices, you might be shocked when you go to pay your bill ... but don't be! Craft+Carry has very reasonable prices for this quality of craft beer. This ain't Budweiser and your tastebuds will know it and you'll quickly see the value.

Overall, come to Craft+Carry. Have a pint and chat and brings some cans home after. No better craft beer on the UWS and as good as you'll find in anywhere in Manhattan.
