Overall, I'd say it's a great way to learn French. I liked that they offered Zoom classed which provide live interactions with both instructor and other students. However, I think there is a big difference in ability of instructors. I discovered this when I had to miss a class and was able to "take" a previously recorded class. That teacher was SO good. He explained things in both English and French; he was funny and engaging. You could tell he really wanted to you to understand. That being said, I did advance my French in my 10-week level 3 course. I will probably take level 4 next year, prior to our annual trip to France. Suggestion: I'd like to see a conversational zoom class (single session or 3 session) with each session having a topic (travel, growing up/about you, hobbies, etc) to talk about and listen to.
Took level 2 with Coucou. French is a beautiful, yet, difficult language and the way coucou streamlined the chapters is admirable. It makes the learning process easy and the progress visible. I loved classes with Pascal, he was kind, patient and very knowledgeable. The tips he gave helped me get my pronunciation right as well as grammar correct. Can't wait to go to next level. Highly recommend for those who want to seriously learn the beautiful French Language.
Thank you Coucou for helping me perfect my French before my move to Paris! I took French classes in high school, but sadly was not consistent with practicing the language since.
Here are the reasons why I love Coucou:
Curriculum: Coucou makes it easy and fun to digest the material. They provide workbooks and homework for you to hold yourself accountable and the artwork provides visuals to help you with memory.
Teachers: The teachers are all French native speaking teachers and are so friendly and patient.
Atmosphere: Living in New York City can get lonely and I like how Coucou offers social activities for students outside of class. You can sign up for Yoga in French and fun cooking classes in French. It gives you a chance to meet other students, learn the language, and culture.
Also it’s BYOB in class! Who doesn’t like wine when learning a new language?
Cost: Compared to other options online or nearby, I felt the price was fairly priced for the quality of service. Their online course is slightly cheaper and it works well for people who travel often.
They also give you a placement exam to see which class you should be in. I am now in level 3 and I hope to be fluent very soon. Merci beaucoup!!
Took the level 1 class in person at Coucou. Love the way the material is presented. Carson is a fantastic teacher and she clearly explains all concepts and makes sure everyone has a chance to practice speaking. This is the best way to learn French.
