John B. Austin Nature Trail, Lockport

I like this place because of the easy trails. The elevation changes aren't crazy, and the surfaces are either well mowed grass, crushed stone, or dry forest floor. The map inside the opening isn't super useful, so just walk in- there are colored blazes on the trees but no mention of these on the map..

Well.. one thing is for sure, it smells like you're in farm country. You get used to it pretty quickly though. If you want to see some pretty awesome old trees, this is the place for you. One of the trails leads to a 250 year old oak tree, you can't miss it. Never really too crowded, which I personally love about this area. It is a bit out of the way, but if you have the time it is worth the drive. It's also not a massive area, so you don't really have to worry about getting lost.

Walking the trails reminds me of being in allegheny state park, but it is 25 minutes away.
