You can dance if you want to,
You can leave your friends behind...
But it's better with friends and even friends-of-friends,
So go and have a really good time! ????
Have been going for years. It's a tradition at this point for me and many others who attend.
Obviously, it's pricey--except for the admission, which is very inexpensive--and you have to try to get there early for ideal parking... But there is ample amount of parking after the main lots are full (for some shillings). But there is ye olde shuttle, which is free.
Honestly, this place is magical in a way. The people working there are good at playing characters, who are good-natured and know when to ham-it-up. Lots of laughter.
Everyone works really hard, no matter what they're doing. Whether they are a part of the park staff, security, janitor, actor, performer, bartender, cook, or store manager or employee, the beads of sweat do not go unnoticed.
Long live the Faire! Huzzah!
A once per year favorite. Absolutely love the atmosphere. You can literally escape to another world where you meet fairies, wenches, lords and ladies, and can dress the part and join them if you like. Eating the turkey legs is a must. There is so much to do and see.
There are many shows every day, which range from jousting to acrobats to jugglers to jesters - All are very entertaining and professionally staged in a comfortably minimally staged setting. Be sure to "tip" the performers, because they deserve it! The New York Ren Faire is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
A great Ran Faire experience. Plenty to see and do with multiple stages and a variety of merchants. Good for all ages. We have been going for about 30 years and dress up to enhance our experience. Nice to see a lot of improvements being made and new vendors being added. Love it.
We were there 2 times and every time we had so much fun there. My advice is to be dressed for this place so you will feel the atmosphere. You have to taste yummy turkey leg and cider. There were a lot of short shows during the whole day. The final songs were incredible. This place is good for all ages. My kids love it a lot.
This was my first time visiting the New York State Renaissance Faire and it was definitely a fun experience. There were many people dressed like the times, and all of the staff spoke in the vernacular. As a newbie, it was cool to look at all of the costumes and appreciate the dedication the staff members have for staying in their character. There are so many shops, from candle making to tons of food options (massive turkey legs are a huge hit, as well as mead), to wooden swords, to medieval clothing, to fresh olive oil.. The list really is endless. Be prepared with lots of cash because there are many games to play also. Ax throwing, knife throwing, archery, throwing tomatoes at a man whose job it is to insult you.. That list too goes on and on too. There are also quite a bit of children's games. There are shows at different times throughout the day, as well as parades that randomly pass through the streets as you're walking. We watched a joust, rode a camel, got a henna tattoo, ate the largest funnel cake of my life, and I got a sunflower dipped in candle wax which should last many, many years. I loved the experience and my family and I will most certainly be returning next year for more fun.
PS they don't accept credit cards aside from the entrance fee so make sure you have lots of cash!
