“Beautiful easy hike through the site of an important historical foundry. Through marsh and woods. The reclamation and cleanup of this former Superfund site is remarkable. Markers along the path inform about the site's history. One lovely intact building fun 1865. The hike can take you along the river to a falls, before either looping back to its start, or ending up near the Putnam History Museum, where you can learn more about the foundry and the history of the area. The history museum's building was originally the foundry school, for young apprentices and workers' children.”

“Oil delivery guy could not get his truck down our long, unplowed drive, so he parked on the road and snaked the heavy hose through the woods to our house. Had to trek over rock walla and steep inclines and deep snow. Plus get the hose over the deer fence without damaging it. Very much appreciated on one of those record cold days. This is the kind of attentive service we have regularly received from Downey for nearly 20 years.”

“It's hard to ask for a better location for an ice cream parlor. Situated right on the Hudson River with lots of benches to sit on and nom your ice cream while taking in the spectacular views. Plenty of trains and boats about to keep little eyes interested. Which leads me to the ice cream itself, plenty of interesting flavors to choose from, cones, shakes, cups, they have it covered and it's delicious. The line can get pretty long, but it's well worth it. Will keep coming back.”
