It different from a traditional restaurant but really nice. You sit and look the menu, than you go to the counter to order, thing come to you in To-go containers. If you chose to stay they have plates and forks too...just help yourself. Food amazing, wonderful atmosphere.
5 stars for the correct diner, meaning you want to sit down in a small family owned shop and eat home food.
Which it does very accurately.
Hearty, simple, plain.
Kitchen is tiny so be wary of when they are busy. And be flexible about how you eat the dishes, mix and match what makes sense.
People were super nice there. Calm and beautiful looking place. The day we visited, it was not very crowded. So, we got a table immediately. We ordered a chicken dish and a beef dish. The chicken one came with mashed potatoes, egg noodles and fried chicken breast. The beef dish came with fried potato pancakes and chunks of beef in gravy. None of it was really spicy (I am an Indian so that kinda matters). That being said, I would recommend this place to someone who's looking for simple, healthy and quality food options. The quantity per serving of a dish was also more than enough for one person. Food came in a takeout container. You have clean cutlery and plates on the side of the table for you to use if you want. The take out containers were helpful though to pack extra food for home.
Excellent hospitality and food quality. They’re currently serving food in takeout containers, but plates are available if desired. The food and drinks are authentically Polish. The better food is downstairs in the restaurant. Street parking right out front is free on 15th st and Congress st. Expend to spend at least and hour here if dining in.
Love the food here but not sure I would come back to eat in, as they’ve mostly converted to take out style ordering. You are handed a menu at the front, place an order at the take out window; and then find a table to sit at.
The food didn’t take that long and was brought out to our table in a take out container. You can use plates and silverware that’s sitting on a cart in the back to unload the food onto. Some plates were definitely not cleaned well as there were some crusty pieces from the food before baked in. We were sitting next to a window and it didn’t look like the area below the window had been dusted in a while.
The food tasted home-made (warm and welcoming), though the peirogi were a bit doughy / thick, and the stuffed cabbages lacked flavor on the inside, aside from the tomato sauce that was drizzled on top. I would definitely get the kielbasa and potatoes pancakes again; which were made to perfection!
Next time I’ll be ordering to go, as it didn’t make much sense to eat in the restaurant aside from just wanting the food to be hot and fresh.
