This place has to be seen to be believed. I bought just the camera I was looking for,for a great price. He has every kind of camera that you could imagine from the 19 th century to present. He is also very knowledeable , he also has artwork and photographs as well for sale. There is so much to see there that you will have trouble tearing yourself away..
I don't normally write reviews, but this place is amazing! A HUGE selection of cameras from every moment in history. The shop is an absolute candy store for photography buffs and collectors, or those who just appreciate vintage. Nick is incredibly knowledgable and fair. He sat with me for some time as we tested merchandise and found the right camera for me. We even unearthed a matching case! I came away very happy, and will be returning.
Nick''s photography center is a little gem in downtown Troy just waiting to be discovered! We visited expecting to see artistic photography displayed on the walls and yes, we enjoyed great photos but that was only the beginning. The Center is flooded with an array of cameras and projectors that together tell a fascinating history of the photography field. Nick is a wealth of information -- a brilliant man (a statistician!) with a passion and love of photography and collecting in general. The second and third floors, should you dare to venture up the narrow staircases, house stacks and stacks of well organized books, artwork, photographs, and miscellaneous collectibles. If you are lucky, you will also get to meet Dave, Nick's "problem-solver." We went for a one hour visit, and stayed for three hours! What a memorable afternoon! Thank you, Nick!
One of the biggest collections of cameras and history of everything photography that I've seen in a long time. An entire floor dedicated to photography books and all very welcoming. They had a large supply of hard to find flashbulbs for my Graflex gear! They also have gallery shows on the first floor. Located in a great little pocket of Troy with a lot of restaurants in walking distance.
Amazing camera shop, Its like browsing Ebay. The museum is a breath taking collection of photography history. Amazing exhibits & gallery shows curated by Nick Argyros founder of the Photocenter.
