We loved working with Allison! My daughter collaborated with her on her common app essay and on her supplemental essays as well. Allison took the time to get to know my daughter, all her activities and interests. I believe, since she was familiar with her goals, values and accomplishments she was able to help her convey a clear message in the essays about my daughter’s personality and abilities. With her guidance her essays became a lot more polished as well. It was good enough for 3 Ivy leagues including Harvard!
She was very available via email and text and she was very flexible with scheduling appointments, which is a great plus for a busy highschooler! My daughter worked with Allison mostly on the essays but she was assisting her in many other areas as well when we asked for guidance. To me it was such a relief to know that Allison was available for us to answer any questions we might have had. Her knowledge is extensive in this subject and she has a great insight into how most admission officers look at the applications.

Allison is amazing. She helped me so much during the entire college process. Not only did she help me immensely with writing my essays, but she also helped me come up with a list for colleges I would apply to. Allison really cares about her students. I am a really busy individual, and I spend all my weekdays swimming after school. Allison adjusts her schedule to make time for her students. We ended up working together on Sundays (the only day of the week I am not busy). Allison is a great essay tutor. She makes sure that the essay is original and sounds like the student who is writing it. She also helps to make the essays unique and memorable. In addition, she is a great editor. She has a perfect sense of grammar. After meeting with her, I would go home and make changes to my essays and send her my revised essays via email. Within about an hour, she would send me back my essay via email with more comments and suggestions. Allison really goes above and beyond to help her students. Furthermore, Allison helped me practice for my college interviews. She really was my getting-into-college savior. Allison is the best.

I worked with Allison on my Common App essay this past fall. When I gave her my first draft, I was super impressed with my paper and I was so ready to send it in to my colleges. But after my first meeting with Allison, she was able to help me truly understand myself and what I wanted to portray to colleges and she helped me get the idea across effectively and creatively. The great thing about Admissions 1 is that they don't try to change your essay or force you in a certain direction; your Common App essay should be about YOU and Allison was super accepting of my ideas and thoughts throughout the process. After we finished my official final draft, I was so confident about my essay. I truly believe that my acceptances into some amazing colleges were based off of my Common App essay, all thanks to Allison and Admissions 1. It is SO worth it!

Allison was a huge help to our son. She met with him three times and his essay was dramatically transformed. She did not change the message that he was trying to communicate, but helped him think through his message and find clearer ways to get the message across. She did not impose her style onto his essay, nor did she do the writing. He found it very easy to work with her and came home from each meeting saying that it had been extremely helpful. She has followed us through to the end, even after the applications were in and the acceptance letters came. She has kept track of all possible scholarship opportunities for my daughter and has provided us with her recommendations.
