Hudson Valley Circus Arts

This school is a serious GEM in the Hudson Valley. Instruction as high quality as the trendiest studio in Brooklyn for (almost) half the price. Mai, the director, is a wonderfully kind and smart person. And Anna, the lyra teacher, is a wonderful teacher. I recently took a lyra class with her after taking some time off. She is grounded and thoughtful, in a way that makes something that can be super airy and analytical feel slower and safer than it usually feels, but without lacking any of the fun and excitement. The sequence she had us do was challenging but (almost) doable, and thus, very inspiring. Imo, you should definitely take a class, if you're debating it. (Not all) Circus people are magic. These people are magic.

I trained in circus arts for about 8 years in my twenties living in NYC and had to step back while going to school and working full time. When I moved to the Hudson Valley last year (2020) and started my new job I was elated to find HVCA and I could get back to training after 5 years of not being in the air. Thank you Hudson Valley Circus Arts and my new coach Michaela for welcoming me into the air once again!

I have not physically been to this studio, but instead have been taking virtual classes online! Miss360 (Brianna) has been teaching different hula hoop skills, techniques + sequences via zoom and she is an AMAZING teacher! She breaks down the moves and will guide you personally to be sure you are understanding her content. I highly recommend taking her virtual classes now and checking out the studio (if you live relatively nearby) when it is safe to do so!
