The Hyde Collection

The Hyde Collection is a lovely institution with a great story/history. It’s a nice museum for a shorter visit, but still well worth it. The Hyde home itself is part of the art, as well as its permanent art collection and antique furniture pieces. The attached galleries had quilt folk art and modern art visiting collections that were also enjoyable. The guest greeter in the lobby was a delightful first encounter. My friend and I were visiting from metro Boston and had a wonderful time today.

If you belong to another art museum they offer reciprocal free admission, plus students and kids under 12 get in free, and there’s a senior discount.

Great place to see an incredible collection in an intimate and unexpected setting. The museum does a good job of mixing classical masters with contemporary pieces. From Rubens to a possible Davinci sketch the collection is carried and interesting. The staff, particularly the person at the front desk does a great job orienting you to the museum. It's definitely worth a trip!

A unique museum located in Glens Falls, the Hyde showcases both a large rotating collection of art, but also a home that displays all the vestiges of years past. The interior of the home with its indoor courtyard always seems idyllic to me, and it’s fun to take a journey back if only for a little while. Worth a visit for the entire family. I particularly enjoyed the “Mysteries” exhibit which displays art that is possibly a forgery or may be the real thing. Fascinating.
