Gore has lots of different trails to cover, and each run feels like it’s own unique and dreamy experience. I enjoyed their more challenging trails, and my travel buddy took a lesson which really set her up for success as a novice skier. She has had decent lessons before, but this one was far superior. The instructor had her on blues by the end of it, and most importantly, she walked away with great skills to build on and very positive feelings about skiing.
I skied both Saturday and Sunday on MLK weekend and could have spent several more days experiencing all of their trails. There are amazing views from up on the mountain, and especially from the High Peaks Lift. The trails also all have really neat and classic names, labeled with thoughtfully designed signs reflective of their titles. I appreciate those details.
Even though there was a college athlete competition going on, as a single rider, I did not wait in any lines. Plus the competition was cool to see.
We also took Nordic (cross-country) ski lessons, which we had never done before, at the Ski Bowl Lodge area. This lesson was also fantastic, and the instructor really showed us the ropes. We walked away feeling like we had it down, and now want to get some Nordic skis of our own. The lesson was well worth it, and highly recommended.
Gore is all-around charming and fun. The surrounding area is everything a little ski town should be, with great restaurants to hit after a full day on the mountain. I can’t wait to come back!
First time visiting gore and first time snowboarding. The staff was friendly and the mountain itself was nice. My only issue was lessons start so late in the day.
As for the mountain this is more of an issue of being a beginner, they have nothing in-between the bunny slope and the first green up the lift. The first green is more like a blue and has many icey sections. This mountain will be better for amateur to more experienced. Beginners may have a very rough time.
The food at the lodge is nice and plenty of parking but get there early. Will visit again when I'm more experienced but would not return at my current skill level.
The gondola was awesome and kid/baby friendly. We got our own gondola both ways (2 adults, 2 kids) so we got to enjoy letting the kids be kids.
The ski lift looked fun but not kid friendly (obviously)
Definitely worth a trip.
