Excellent care from a very knowledgeable PT. I learned a lot and my knee pain was dramatically reduced. Over the summer I could barely walk, by ski season I was skiing carefully and then full force. I would highly recommend Derek.
Derek has been instrumental in my recoveries from a 4th knee surgery related to my profession, and a shoulder injury incurred after a fall on black-ice covered stairs last winter. I am a retired professional ballet dancer, and current adjunct professor of ballet in NYC.
Derek’s knowledge of scientific, evidence-based PT techniques, gives him a massive tool box of practical and effective hands-on therapies and exercises which have resulted in my successful recoveries. His depth of clinical experience allowed him to individualize my PT to help me re-attain a level of function close to my expectations.
In addition, he is sensitive to the ups and downs of healing, some stemming from my anxiety over loss of function and strength while continuing to need to teach. I found his description of musculoskeletal processes in relation to my goals easy to understand, and his manner quite calming. His written communication with my orthopedist was clear, professional and timely. His offices are efficient, clean and comfortable.
I am so pleased with the outcomes of my PT under Derek’s guidance that I recommended that my husband, a retired physician and recreational skier, ask his own orthopedist for a prescription for PT with Derek after he needed an arthritic knee effusion drained. Afraid that he might have to give up skiing, my husband and our sons are now looking forward to spring skiing in Utah.
