Philip was very helpful. He researched an issue for me and as a result I was able to get a second key made for free.
Overall, I had a good experience with getting my car fixed here, though communication while my car was in the shop was a bit frustrating.
I took my car in after getting a scary error message about the hybrid system failing, even though it was driving fine. I had searched online about it and it seemed like a pretty standard fix that involved replacing a defective part with a new one from Toyota.
One thing that already set them apart from other service centers in the area, was that they shuttled me back home (~10 miles) after I brought the car in. In comparison, when I previously took my car to the Yonkers Toyota service center, they refused to shuttle me back home, even though on the phone they had told me they would.
The day I dropped off my car at Toyota City, I got a text message saying they would text me updates as they worked on it. Unfortunately, they never actually did send any updates proactively, and I had to call in repeatedly every day or two for a week to confirm what the diagnosis was and find out when the car would be ready. Since I had already researched the problem beforehand, I knew it would take about a week for the new part to come in, but had that not been the case, I would have been furious. Calling into the service center would lead to a voice mailbox that was too full to leave any messages, so I had to talk to the operator instead, and even then, was transferred to the full mailbox several times. One time, I was told I would get called back by a service manager, but never was.
Finally when I complained about all this, one of the service managers, Angel, got on the phone with me and gave me his direct number. After that, communication was smooth.
My car is fine now, and they cleaned the exterior. All the staff are very friendly, and they seem to try hard to do the right thing for customers, so overall they get 5 stars despite the communication issues.
This is how service centers should be ran! State of the art facility with kind service advisors. Patrick and Angel were so kind and courteous. Very nice waiting area. Would highly recommend.
