Very well kept park with an amazing view at the summit. Love going here to maintain hiking stamina. Convenient to town also.
Throughly enjoyed our time at Bakers Mountain Park. We went for a hike on Presidents Day, and felt like we almost had the place to ourselves. We spent a good 2 hours hiking the different trails and eventually made our way to the look out. It was a fun and somewhat challenging hike in certain areas. It was neat to see where the old cabin was and read about the history of it. The kids enjoyed learning about the different trees that were along the trails. The trails were easy to follow and well marked. The bathrooms were super clean and the park was well taken care of. Would definitely recommend that you take a hike here, and will definitely be back!
Awesome place to hike if you want to get away real quick without a bunch of people around and live in west Catawba County or east Burke County. Picnic and hiking with plenty of woods to walk through. It is gated so you have to watch your timing on the trails. Very clean restrooms and courteous state park employees are the norm. Pet friendly as well! Enjoy!
Perfect place for a decent, but doable hike that can take anywhere from a couple hours to the whole afternoon (your choice). There are also a couple great waterfall areas for kids along the way, with enough benches nestled throughout to take a little breather if needed. The view at the end is quite rewarding, too.
This park is really nice, especially if you want a mountainous feel right outside of Hickory. It's very well maintained and the park staff is very friendly and helpful. None of the trails are very long individually but you can make as long as a loop as you would like by piecing them together. The view of the valley from the observation deck at the top is definitely worth the hike up.

Catawba County Parks staff investigated a report of a very rare bird that was spotted near Riverbend Park. A Brown Booby was sighted on Lookout Shoals Lake and was first reported on May 28 by a local Iredell County resident. This bird has been seen in the lower Lookout Shoals Lake area every day...
