Duke School is an inclusive, inspiring environment to teach, challenge, and guide your children from preschool through eighth grade. We have had children there since 2015. Our oldest is now in public high school and constantly says that he is excelling and prepared because of “that good Duke School model of reflect and share.” Some parents may wonder about the lack of grades or calling teachers by their first names. Trust the process - it creates learners who feel valued and engaged. And our teachers are respected as experts and trusted for their insight and knowledge of child development. We have also benefited from financial assistance with their Index Tuition. We are forever grateful for a place like Duke School to help us raise confident, compassionate and resilient kids.
Good school but much better elementary than middle school doesn’t give much independence
Our child graduated from Duke School after being there for 9 years. I cannot say enough good things about this wonderful place! The teachers pay so much individual attention to each child. The environment is warm and accepting of all children. When first considering schools, we narrowed down our choices to DS vs another private school in the area that is very much focused on traditional testing-based curriculum. After all these years at DS, I know we made the right choice. Any school can teach your kid how to take a test; only Duke School can teach them how to solve problems and be an upstanding member of society.
Our child has been at Duke School from preschool through 8th grade and has received an outstanding education. The school provides an innovative education via a project-based curriculum that instills critical thinking skills and encourages creativity and self-discovery. My daughter leaves the school as a confident young person who is well-prepared for high school and college. The Duke School faculty and staff are amazing and are truly committed to educating upstanding citizens and future learners. We are very grateful to this school!
I love Duke School. I have felt so at home here, and I've never felt unsafe here ever. As an 8th grader, I am very sad to leave. I would reccomend this school to anyone. DS has shaped who I am today. I am so greatful for the wonderful people here. The one downside to DS is the lack of diversity. I know that people at DS are working to improve that side of things here.
