I have to give them five stars because the staff is super friendly and they have good service but the other comments were accurate about the Mac and cheese. It’s pure disgusting, it’s actually pretty shocking to see POC have no clue how to make real Mac and cheese. Taste like pure margarine and who knows what kind of cheese. But yeah.. service is great and the homemade lemonade and tea is great.

Growing up, my Dad carried us here regularly. Not only is the food delicious, but this place is a staple in Durham and should be considered a landmark. I now live out of state, but I had the privilege of attending during the holidays.

Great fried chicken and even better staff! Everyone is so friendly here you really feel like family. The fried chicken was perfectly crispy and and very well seasoned. The plates come with two sides, a drink (tea or lemonade) and a choice of a roll or hush puppies. I HIGHLY suggest getting the hush puppies, they might have been my favorite thing from my meal! I got the yams and the mac and cheese as my sides, I wasn’t a huge fan of the Mac but the yams were pretty tasty. Be ware that they only accept cash!! There is parking to the rear of the building. I will definitely be back and I look forward to sharing this gem with my family and friends.

Super nice people! Homey feel. Feels like family. The food is just as good as the environment. Will be coming back!

My coworker brought me a chicken plate with Mac n cheese and collards. It was like I hadn't eaten fried chicken before. The Mac n cheese was good and I ate all of it even the collard and I didn't like collards till now. All that was left was the bones.
