I came here with my family and my brother's girlfriend's grandparents this last Christmas season. Christmas has dwindled in its spirit for me as I grow up more (18 now), but coming here filled me up with joy. Looking at all the lights and decorations at night with my family has been one of the happiest moments of my life. Although it is incredibly crowded, so I reccomend looking at the lights on foot so you can really appreciate them. Especially since the driver cant look at them as much.
I LOVE going here at Christmas time! It's like stepping into another era. Lovely little town with Christmas festivities through out the season. If you go, its best to walk. Santa walks around and the kids can take pictures. There's Christmas music coming from the church. Take warm layers if it's going to be cold. They mostly have porta-potties so take some wipes just in case. The only thing I would suggest is Christmas Caroling every weekend. It would add to the ambience. Neighbors and the church hand out hot chocolate. Also go early! I would be there around 4pm or 4:30pm. If not it's impossible to get through! The line is so long it extends onto the highway for miles! It's wonderful!
Going from NY it wasn't much of a surprise to see the lights and decorated houses but it was a fun time to be with family. Be prepared to be waiting in traffic to enter this town for at least 1 hour and half, cars move really slow and stop frequently to take pictures. The ideal would be to walk through the streets of the town but I don't really know how easy would it be to find parking close to the attractions.
Wonderful Christmas decoration in the whole town! Make sure you park your car and walk around to see the full decoration and Christmas spirit among residents and visitors here. We also saw a small alligator swimming near the lake so stay away from the lake if you can.
Festive town with mostly every home and tree lit up. Arrive before dark, have some dinner then walk around! (Through the side streets too) Avoid the drive through traffic by doing this, and extend the evening getting some steps in!

This is a very nice town with very pretty lights. Don't expect it to be like New York because it is not. It is free to see. I would suggest going early around 4 pm and park after the bridge to the left, there is a big lot with nothing at all and it leads to the small downtown and the nice lights.

Today, almost a half million lights decorate some 400 trees with special displays that surround the lake at the town's center and have earned McAdenville the title of "Christmastown, USA".
