“Between us we had pulled pork, brisket, slaw, fried okra, and fried squash. All very good. The fried veggies were lightly seasoned and crisp, the brisket tender but not mushy. The pork was the star, with a nice smoke flavor by itself. Add one of their traditional NC vinegar sauces—coastal vinegar and pepper or Lexington tomato/vinegar—and it’s next level. The staff was friendly and helpful, offering my wife a sample of the slaw before she ordered it. After we had a chance to dig in a bit, the owner came over and chatted ‘cue with us a while—a topic of which I never tire. We’ve found a new top 5 BBQ spot, and will definitely be back!”
