Fun but tough trail with rocks & roots covered with leaves everywhere, lots of switchbacks and challenging verticals
Great place to run and hike. The Uwharrie training runs and Uwharrie 100 mile and 100k race start here. Parking is ok. If it’s busy the main lot can only good about 10 car. You have to park on the road or in an extended lot that can be bad if wet or you have a low vehicle.
Decent parking and easy access to multiple trails for hiking and bikes. Also has the access point to Woodrun Hunt Camp, a 1.5 mile hike or drive with multiple camp sites and rudimentary bathroom.
Let's see, this riding was great bc it was not easy, but it was not too difficult to finish. Lots of technical rocky areas, fun creeks to cross, a good amount of inclines for a great workout! It's 3 out of 5 difficult. I wouldn't recommend it to a beginner. It was intermediate/difficult. I think we rode about 8.5 miles all together.
Maps are provided in two places at the trail head as well as a trash and recycling bin. Definitely slightly limited parking. I'd say in the main portion you could park maybe 12 vehicles or so. It seems that these rotate a good bit as there are more day hikers than overnighters. There's a lower portion that looks like an access road that people were parking on as well.
