If you’re looking got an Asian flare to add to your collection, definitely stop here! So many unique and beautiful pieces. The owners are great to talk to and very knowledgeable about their high temperature glazing process.
Take the time to go up the drive and into this residence gallery. Artist Carol will warmly welcome you and is happy to talk pottery, art or just about any topic! The pieces here were the most vivid colors and unique designs. Many were pierced or cut-out in a style that reminded me of the old French porcelain ware. A treat for the eyes just to look at the beauty.
I visited this past week and found that the talent of this couple was astounding. The glazes, the colors, techniques, artwork, shapes and originality of the pieces captivated me and spoke to my soul. I was only able to purchase 4 pieces (treasures) due to a limited budget not because they were overpriced. Rest assured that I will be back whenever I pass that way again which will be in a few months. I can highly recommend you spending your time visiting. I could fill my house with these beautiful pieces of art and wake up each day to enjoy their uniqueness as if it were the first time I saw them.
Wow, talk about beautiful, exciting and extremely different pottery! Never have I ever seen pottery with these styles or colors before. Jinsong and Carol Kim at Seagrove Art Pottery are partners in life as well as in pottery. I met both Jinsong and Carol and they are both very warm and humble people who love what they do and love to inform people about the pottery world in which I was happy to learn. Carol taught me a lot about the different types of pottery types and the different types of clay. How this type makes this kind of pottery. She explained it to me in a way that was easy to understand, in a way that I had never heard before. They are very knowledgeable people and they are a pair sent from Heaven for the pottery world! Jinsong creates and styles the pottery pieces and Carol sculpts and paints the pieces. The finished product is truly a work of art. And why is it that I've never seen these colors and styles before? Carol explained that they experimented with different types of clay and eventually decided to cultivate they're own and that's exactly what they did. That's why you won't see these vivid colors on any other pottery. And the Asian- American style is all there own as well. I will personally never look at pottery the same again! If you like what I has to say please hit the like and let me know. Thank you.
Visit various shops and enjoy the various styles of pottery making. We visited 3 of the 100 or so shops and each place took our breath away. We had a free demonstration at one shop. Each artisan was very friendly and willing to direct us to which shops would best match what we were looking for. The pottery was exceptional quality, artistry and had everything from functional kitchenware to lamps and vases. We will definitely go back.
