A Cut Above Carpentry

We've been using ACAC for many projects, big and small, for going on twenty years. Marty is the best! Very knowledgeable, personable and easy to work with. A perfectionist, he never considers a job complete until it's perfect. Honest, reasonable, reliable and friendly.

Last year we met and contracted A Cut Above Carpentry to do a full kitchen remodel. (Their estimate and timeline were very reasonable.) Because of delays in appliance deliveries (ordered by us not the contractor), we had to reschedule 3 times. A Cut Above was understanding and accommodating. When our project finally began, we quickly saw we had made the right choice. Marcie, the office manager, was professional, fantastic at communicating all steps, costs and information on the remodel and just checking in on the progress. Marty, the contractor, was committed as much to our vision as we were. He was prompt, efficient, pleasant and generous with information, questions and suggestions. His work is excellent and you can see his skill and experience everywhere.

It can always be a challenge working on an older home (ours was built in 1958), and you never know what you may find. As we progressed and unexpected conditions came up, Marty would always have a solution. He discussed each one with us, presenting the pros and cons of each solution, along with his thoughts on the best way to proceed. His ability to troubleshoot and solve each and every challenge that came his way is an asset, and my number one reason why I would recommend A Cut Above Carpentry.

Our new kitchen is everything we dreamed it could be and we can’t thank A Cut Above enough for their care in getting it accomplished. A Cut Above Carpentry is now our go to contractor/carpenter for any and all home projects.

We had an emergency repair when our roof began leaking during a storm. We called and they came to look at it that same day.

The estimate they gave me was detailed and explained everything that they would do to fix the problem. I set an appointment for the repairs and thankfully they called the day before to remind me (I had forgotten they were scheduled to come out). They were able to schedule me for a time that worked with my busy schedule, and were friendly when I changed my appointment - twice. They made me feel like I was their only customer (and I know I'm not because I see their trucks everywhere in my neighborhood).

When they came for my appointment, I knew it was them because of the familiar blue truck with their company name on it. They have branded the company very well and they are a household name at least for my family. The men who worked on it were friendly, professional, prompt, and completed the job on time. They cleaned up after they were done and even removed the trash so we didn't have to.

They kept me informed of the job and any changes throughout the repairs. I was talking to them at the end and told them about a problem I'd had with a few other things around my home - a window that wouldn't open, a garbage disposal that made noise, etc. They were able to fix my window and my disposal too, and didn't charge me any extra!

The repairs fixed the problem which is more than I can say for the handyman that I had called before. Apparently I needed a carpenter, not a handyman. I have never worked with a carpenter before so this was a new experience but they made it very easy for me. I thought they would be expensive but it was actually less than I had paid the handyman.

I can't say enough good things about this company! They will be coming back in the spring to fix my deck. I highly recommend contacting them for any home repairs, and I have already recommended them to my family, friends, and co-workers. Our old bathroom door fell off its hinges, it was such a small repair but of course we wanted it done quickly, and A Cut Above Carpentry was very prompt, friendly, and professional. Marty said it probably wouldn't take up the hour minimum and asked if there was anything else he could do for us, so he ended up fixing up one of the other doors a bit as well with no extra charges even though it did end up taking a bit more than an hour. I also really appreciated the 10% discount for disabled customers--very kind of him, since if my partner wasn't disabled he'd be doing all these small repairs himself. The office manager Marcy also seems super nice. I'm glad to have someone in town I can call for stuff in the future.
