Sunday afternoon we had a visit from a man and woman from Straitway. As Christians, we were very happy to see people out telling people about the Lord, especially on a very cold rainy day. They were extremely polite, steadfast in their faith and I accepted the Bible tract they offered. I’ll pass it on to someone who needs to hear the gospel. I only gave a 4 because I have not personally visited the church, so I can’t tell you about it as a whole.
Three gentlemen arrived on my porch tonight.
I answered the door and had a great chat about God with them.
They were upbeat and shared truth with a great attitude.
Not sure how folk here can say they're anything other than people doing their best to share the gospel with others just like the Bible tells us to do.
They gave me a paper and invited me to church.
I felt like they were being honest NOT judgemental.
Our family is going to attend a service to see for ourselves.
~ I would like to publicly like to thank these men for caring about their "neighbors". Thank you also to the 3 ladies that the man said were somewhere else visiting other people.
It appears to me that Straitway has received some nebulous "complaints" from a few people who seemingly have a preconceived bias against Straitway to begin with...
"Pretty sure it's a cult."
"Two men dressed in black" from Straitway knocked on a man's door, instead of ringing his doorbell.
And my personal favorite "complaint"..."People from Straitway were walking outside without a mask."
Now folks, I don't go to church...any church.
I don't care for it, the music bores me to tears, plus I'm still sipping coffee at that time on Sunday mornings...and since I'm not a sheep, I won't recognize another person as being my "pastor."
However, I don't get mad when people from churches come to my door. After chatting for a few minutes, I politely let them know it's not my cup of tea, then bid them a pleasant afternoon as we're saying goodbye to each other.
People from Straitway have been to my door twice.
The second time they came, I told the two guys...
"Look fella's, you folks from Straitway seem to be nice people, and there's certainly worse things you could be doing with your time then going door to door for your church. You help each other out, you keep your homes and property neat and well manicured, you'd make good neighbors in any neighborhood, and whenever I'm taking a short cut down Carolina Avenue (which I often do), I can always tell if a car at a side street is occupied by people from Straitway, because they'll always respectfully wait instead of cutting in front of me.
You seem to have a good thing going with Straitway, and it seems to be working out real good for you...but it's just not for me."
What I told those two guys, is exactly how I feel about people from Straitway.
And as far as being Christians is concerned, people from Straitway seem to be walking the walk...instead of just talking the talk.
They're striving to be decent people, and I have no complaints about them whatsoever.
