Hemlock Bluffs Nature Preserve

Definitely, this place is a good model about how to design naturally friendly & educative trails. The trails are covered by wood chips and well developed along side with the bluffs. I love here has many educational sites for multiple grade levels. Check the hours (opens at 9 am) before the visit.

Beautiful hidden gem located in Eastern Cary. This nature preserve has an educational/visitor/historic center right by the front gates. They have interpretation and environmental education programming for children. A natural playground with benches and interesting equipment for kids to play and learn about nature at the same time. The best part: miles of trails that send you into multiple different groves of Hemlock, Beech, Chestnut Oak & other Oaks, and Pine. The trails are natural packed and boardwalks with educational signage and stunning bluff overlooks that demand attention from visitors enjoying shaded & cool hikes.

I highly recommend checking out all the features that this park has to offer. The staff are great and put a lot of time and effort into keeping this ecological nook in the city beautiful and healthy for generations to come. Stop by and see the Certified Wildlife Habitat courtyard before taking a relaxing and inviting hike through the Piedmont's best landscapes.

Nice, peaceful nature center, with good views and plenty of parking. Provides more of a renewing outdoor vibe than simple walking the greenways. We got close to four deer on our walk the other night. I almost thought the one was gonna walk directly up to us.

A beautiful place to visit and go on walks. When I lived closer, I would visit at least 3 times a week and walk all the trails. I always was there on weekdays but rarely passed other people. It was nice to not have an overly crowded place to walk that was really well taken care of. I could usually do my whole walk and feel like I was the only one there. This place is one of the things I miss most about living in Cary.

This is a beautiful nature preserve near the South tip of where Cary NC intersects with Apex that offers three fantastic walking trails each of differing levels of difficulty. The trails are well maintained, the walks are beautiful at all times of year, the nature center and facilities are first class. Visitors looking for a pleasant hour of trail walking should look no further than Hemlock Bluffs. Bring your own water. Restrooms close at 5pm.
