The Canal exhibit alone is worth it
What a cool little museum about some of the local Middletown/area history as well as the canal that used to be active there (part of the canal is right outside the door). Plenty to see, learn and experience, and you'll need about an hour. Partly handicap accessible, and you enter the museum via the park BEHIND the museum (look for signs guiding you). Free to enter and well worth a stop! Go and enjoy!
Great time travel back to early Middletown. Open just thru Oct on Sunday 2-4. Free but would appreciate a donation.
The Middletown Canal Museum on Verity Parkway at the Verity Parkway entrance to Smith Park is an exceptional historic Middletown location. You can visit inside the museum for free on Sundays early afternoon from spring to fall. You can walk around the interesting outside of the museum all year around. The inside of the original Doty House is packed wall to wall, floor to ceiling with spectacular artifacts, tools and written material all depicting the rich history of the Miami-Erie canal.
