Like many churches, St. Barnabas has been doing some soul searching in recent years and with Rev Alex Martin it has found its direction: a progressive, modern church rooted in the Episcopal tradition. After a long search my young family has found a Church to call home.
St. Barnabas is a lovely church full of caring people. Father Alex is the best! He is very caring, understanding and a genuinely good soul. He’s there for you and not afraid to get his hands dirty keeping up the church!
Ancient Worship. Modern Thinking. Radical Inclusion. These are all on the sign outside of St. Barnabas (on the corner of Wolf and Bradley), and they are a good explanation of why I love St. Barnabas.
I love that we are honoring traditions that other Christians have for hundreds of years with an Episcopal liturgy that weekly feeds my spirit, while also listening to progressive sermons that connect ancient Christian practices with progressive worldviews.
And the best part is the children's programs that really help my daughter to grow in her faith while being radically inclusive and welcoming to ALL people. Can't say enough good things about this welcoming, loving church!
A wonderful, friendly congregation, with a dynamic, young pastor; we thoroughly enjoyed our visit!
What an awesome spiritual experience. We absolutely love Fr Alex’s sermons - they challenge me to reflect on how I can be a better person and Christian. The services are deeply spiritual and reflective.
We felt genuinely welcomed from the moment we walked in the door, through the worship service, and in to coffee hour. Everyone is welcomed and embraced here for who they are - no judgment just welcomeness.
We made the decision to join after our second visit - best decision ever! That was 5 months ago and I’m now on Vestry as a new member.
If you are looking for a new church home with a genuine sense of community or just someplace you can stop in on occasion to worship at, you will be welcomed. If you do visit, please plan on staying for coffee hour after worship to get to meet folks and enjoy the hospitality of the parish.
Feel free to reach out to me personally if I can be of any assistance or answer any questions!
