Mertie's Hungarian Strudel

Wonderful strudel! But you better get there early otherwise you're out of luck.

Outrageously good. I had never been through this part of town, but needed to run an errand after going to Memphis Kiddie Park, passed this shop, and stopped on a whim. Most of the other customers were picking up orders placed in advance, but Mertie (who was extremely friendly and welcoming) said she happened to make extras that morning. Luckily I happened to have cash, and made off with a cherry and apple strudel. Everything is made by hand. Will be visiting again the next time I'm in town.

Stopped in on a whim because the nearby train had traffic backed up. BEST accidental find I've had in a while. The woman who I assume is Mertie was very sweet and the Strudel is even sweeter. My girlfriend and I will definitepy be making the trip from massillon for another visit.

Amazing! What a great deal as well! Bring cash and buy twice as much as you think you'll eat! It won't go to waste!

First and most importantly.... BRING CASH! Tried it for the first time yesterday. We have lived in the area for a decade and never tried it before. We tried half an apple and half a cherry. The cherry was absolutely delicious. But the apple was mind blowing! The layers of the crust were so light and crispy. They had a flavor of their own that when pieces break off as you cut it, you definitely should not let them go to waste :) The apple chunks were large with a softened, not mushy, texture. The cinnamon and nuts only make the apple even better. If you are lucky enough to get an end piece, congrats! You are in for quite possibly the best few bites of your life! My only regret is I only had $20 cash on me. And we ate all the students yesterday. So I have none left for my morning coffee!
