“I took the photo of the playground slide at Almira School on June 16, 1954. It shows one of the two fenced-in areas of the playground. On the far left, a corner of the big sandbox is visible. In the center is the slide. In the summer, kids would bring pieces of wax paper for the slide, to make it extra slippery. Also in this enclosed area were the three-level chinning bars. I attended Almira elementary school 1948-1954 and lived on W. 97 St. just south of Almira Avenue. Lois (Gollwitzer) Dixon”
