Went with my folks while they visited. We did the long two way ride on the train. The instructor was very informative. It was a very nice view. All in all it's very relaxing. You can bring snacks and drinks which I advise. They have very limited options for snacks and drinks, also it's a bit pricy.
The train ride was very relaxing! All you have to do is sit back and relax, enjoy time with your family.
Nothing is green right now, so you see a little bit of snow and the rivers.
I can only imagine how beautiful the ride is in the fall! The colors have to be absolutely amazing.
The train itself is interesting to see, just to think people traveling years ago on it.
We went for the polar express event. It was okay. Kind of expensive for a 2 hour train ride in the dark with about 20 minutes of looking at some Christmas props/lights/volunteers dressed as elves at the "north pole". The only tickets left at the time were the more expensive ones, so we did get a mug along with the bell everyone else gets. The cookie was quite good, but then they give you a pretty small cup of hot chocolate that is only half full, so that was kind of lame. So that's an adult's opinion, but as a kid, I guess they seemed to like it. It probably would've been a bit boring if we only took our one kid, but thankfully we went with a good number of cousins, so they entertained themselves as we traveled through the dark areas. I doubt we'll do it again, but it was okay as a one time deal. And the parking does fill up pretty quick. We got there an hour before departure time and the lot was pretty empty. But about a half hour later it was filling up quickly.
This is an amazing train ride. We always enjoy trains, and this never disappoints. We have even gone on the Murder Mystery Dinner on the train. The staff is wonderful and the views are incredible. The price is not too expensive and there are several fun stops along the way. If you are in the area you should check it out. Definitely fun for all ages.
