Creekside Reserve

the creekside trail was so difficult for me to find! i didn’t realize for the longest time its entrance is a little “annex” part off the main paved bike/walking path. my dog always enjoys knew places to explore, and i enjoyed the deer i saw multiple times through the evening.

Loved this little hiking area. I parked in the parking lot of the Community Park and crossed the street following the paved trail. It loops around past a school. You'll see signage, and after a little bit you'll get to the trails. You can take the paved trail or there are two other trails you can choose, one that goes closer to the water and one that doesn't go as far in. Easy to follow trail signage, quiet. The trails that go closer to the water are not paved, I saw a few runners, it was a peaceful quiet hike.

Saw lots of mushrooms. Lots of places to sit and enjoy the ambiance. Clean trails. Lots of beautiful native flowers. I took the paved trail back and it was full of people hiking, biking, running with their dog, walking, chatting on phones. Nice to see such a great place being enjoyed by the community ❤️🚲🌼🐾

This is a nice reserve, full of deer and wildlife. The traffic noise can sometimes be noticeable from SR 35, which runs parallel to the reserve. Parking can be an issue as the bike path that runs parallel to the trails is very popular. Be careful about the cyclists; many race past at high speed with little care for your safety, or theirs. This is especially true if you have a dog; several times I’ve had a cyclist try to pass between me and my dog, ignoring the fact that we are connected by a leash.

Handy little trail system right off the bike path. I used to live nearby and enjoyed the option of riding off the paved path onto gravel or even farther off the beaten path on some dirt trails. There's a surprising amount of wildlife back there and it is beautiful at all times of the year.

But don't expect too much. There's highway noise because US 35 is right there. A full loop through the trails at normal walking speed is probably only 30-40 minutes.

This park has a nice trail through a wooded area that parallels the Beaver Creek. It is a mostly underdeveloped park, but that has advantages. It is accessed from the bike path that runs from Xenia to Beavercreek that is also called Creekside. There is also a path that runs under the large power lines that parallel the bike path. This trail is more open and has a wide variety of wildflowers. Both Creekside trails are seldom used so they are very peaceful.
