Love eating my lunches here and watching people dig for fossils lol
The only place I've ever seen where you can find fossils laying around all over the place... You can see layer upon layer of history. It also is one of the highest points in the area which provides an AMAZING vantage point allowing you to see almost all the way to into Cincinnati.
Really cool place! I found lots of really cool stuff everywhere. If you are looking for something fun and free to do during covid this is a fantastic option. Theres even a small info station to show you what you can find. Perfect place to spend a few hours with your kids.
This is a fairly basic “park” in the sense that it’s built into a hill/cliff side that’s eroded away to reveal the limestone/fossils. The only developed parts are a parking lot and picnic tables and signage explaining the fossils. There’s no playground. That said, my kids (6 and 2) loved it. They spent the time hitting the rocks with their shovels and breaking the ice. It was a great way to kill an hour in a way that let the kids play with dirt, rocks, and get dirty.
Not many places that let you keep the fossils you find. They are literally just laying everywhere and all you have to do is pick them up. There is a bit of shade, but still, bring some water! Tools are fine but really unnecessary. However, good shoes are a must as you are climbing up somewhat crumbly rocks at a fairly step pitch. (You don't have to climb, but much more is available to you if you do.) Great view too, if you overlook the business park. ?
