Knox County Historical Society

The Knox County Historical Museum portrays an excellent history of Knox County, and the staff is very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. We especially enjoyed the Paul Lynde memorabilia, including his 1964 Ford Thunderbird car, and the George Tanner collection of old telephones. The exhibits are very nicely displayed and well-documented.

Very locally focused local museum with great content. If you enjoy museums that have locally focused curators, you will love this place. Decent range and depth of content. I live in north central Ohio, and learned things I never knew.

As a side note, even if you are not into woven goods or glass, there are some pretty surprising high points. My particular interest is oil and gas, and with 2 large local corporate contributors, I was not disappointed.

Such a wonderful museum. You can tell that those who work there and run the board really care about the museum.

We have visited in the past and enjoyed it. This time we were there because the historical society was hosting the Mount Vernon middle school's history day projects top entries. It was great to have all the audience members ask the kids about why they chose their projects and other aspects of them, you could tell it made the kids feel pretty special.

Take time to visit the museum and talk with the staff and volunteers. Wonderful local history and shows how much the Knox County community has made a difference around the world.

Stone parking lot, with no posted handicap parking space, cars tend to park in front of only ramp up to sidewalk. Great pieces of history outside and inside.
