If you haven’t been to this park, make the trip. This is in my hometown so I’ve basically grown up on the paths behind the castle. This is a great place to be any time of the year. The second floor was removed when I was little but it’s still an amazing piece of history equipped with a few placards to give the history of the castle. I came for a stroll on St Patrick’s day and basically walked to Highland Heights when it started snowing, so I turned around. There are many creeks and little waterfalls to see along the way. Buttermilk falls is back there somewhere too, absolutely beautiful.
They redid the castle. It’s very nice and no more graffiti. Neat to daydream about living here back in the day. Some nice trails behind the castle. Picnic area. Usually very busy. We came here on a weekday in bad weather. Loved it
Such a lovely place to go for a few trail and paved walks. Can bring a dog or have a picnic. With the snow as right now, the place feels a little bit magical.
There is a water fountain, trails map, tables and chairs for picnics, and lots of parking.
Cool place to stay for a while. And fun for photography enthusiasts too :)
Completely free too
This was an unexpected find on our visit to Cleveland. We were looking for places to go with our dogs and found this location. We were expecting to walk around the castle and have a short trail, but were very impressed by all the park had to offer. We could go right into the castle and imagine what it had looked like, then there were miles of hiking trails to explore. The paths were amazingly well marked so we were easily able to find our way back. I also really appreciated the distances on the trail markers so we could decide if we wanted to take shorter or longer routes. If we lived nearby I could see this park being a weekly visit - it was an amazing stop!
