Beautiful place to hike! So many flowers with butterflies!!
Well maintained trails that are for the most part easy. There are some parts of trails that can be moderate. I enjoyed hiking the trails especially with the leaves changing colors. At the reserve there aren't any restrooms or playground equipment and parking is limited.
The perfect place to hike, exercise, explore, and get lost in your thoughts... 🍃
Denison Biological Reserve spans a huge 350 acres including forest, orchards (pine, spruce, sugar maple and yellow poplar), old plantations, ponds, and agricultural fields. The Reserve is commonly used for research, and is home to over 100 species of birds, as well as amphibians, white-tailed deer, red fox, bats, butterflies, dragonflies, etc. The well-marked trail system allows visitors to explore a variety of habitats and terrain.
Thank you Denison University for this priceless gem in our community. My 18 month old and my family really loved every minute of hiking in this 350 acre woods preserve. You can get lost in the forest and forget about the world. Many varieties of trails. It took us almost two hours to hike most of the trails. Simply one of the BEST public nature preserves in Licking County.
Great place to hike and bird with many different micro habitats. Send to be good for a trail run as well, as I often see baby people running here.
