I received excellent care at a reasonable price.

I went to Dr. McCabe because his practice was in the building that my parents' family podiatrist (from the 1960's and 70's) had been. That podiatrist, Dr. Tom Maloney, has retired. He had been an excellent podiatrist. So I chose the building from my childhood memories.

Low and behold, the receptionist/medical assistant who answered the phone when I called for an appointment and greeted me when I went to the appointment is the adult daughter of the podiatrist from my childhood. She caught me up on the life of her 92-year-old dad. He and his wife had raised her well. She was as professional and personable to me as her father had been.

And her father chose the right man to sell his practice to, a podiatrist much like himself. At 58 years old, I found the podiatrist who I will see for the second half of my life. I have no need to look for anyone else.

Dr..McCabe is excellent. He is personable, and easy to speak to and ask questions to. His answers are easy to understand. I often feel as if physicians speak down to me or use medical jargon excessively, so I don't understand what they have said. That is not the case with Dr. McCabe. I felt as if he was speaking ti me as an equal, and he did not use excessive jargon. When he did use medical terminology, he immediately explained what the word meant in laymen terms.

His price for the office visit was tied with two other podiatrists I had called before I drove by the older building from my childhood -- which has been kept up well and remodeled --to see who had taken over Dr. Tom's practice.

I can't say too many positive things about my visit to Dr. McCabe, and I have nothing negative to say or report. That is noteworthy in and of itself since I tend to be demanding and sometimes critical of the medical care I receive from physicians, dentists and optometrists I see.
