My wife and I have now been to all the Der Dutchman restaurants with shops in Ohio and Florida. We had not been to this one so when we saw we were in the area, we stopped here. As usual, the staff are friendly and cheerful, at least the ones we had and saw serving and seating people. Although we have had the salad and/or buffets previously, today one had a Caesars Salad and one had the Charbroiled Chicken with baked sweet potato and coleslaw accompanied by wheat rolls. All items were delicious as normal with large servings. My sweet potato was cooked just right being well done all the way through. It also had a small container of sugar and cinnamon to add to it. We didn't have to wait very long to be seated even though there was a constant number of diners coming in. We came a little past noon on a Saturday. The buffet lines were generally full and steady. After eating we went through the fairly large shopping and bakery area also. I highly recommend eating here.
I had lunch with good friends here on a Wednesday. The restaurant was busy but we were seated immediately. Our waitress was very nice and attentive without being intrusive. The buffet was very good, consisting of comfort food without frills. There was a nice variety without being overwhelming. The adjoining bakery is wonderful, guaranteed to induce a coma. It's a nice place to go to meet friends when you want something just a little different in atmosphere, in all the best ways.
We were seated quickly and had waitress there immediately. We chose the buffet and found too many choices . Everything was delicious and well priced. Followed up with a slice of fresh peach pie and homemade ice cream. We also purchased two butterscotch pies and a fresh peach pie to take home and share with our family. Delicious and lasted for days
We also shopped the gift shop for a wonderful array of items. A wonderful experience that was worth the drive.
ANY TIME YOU HAVE THE CHANCE TO EAT HERE DO IT! The food is amazing! The pie is amazing! The service is amazing! And the prices for the quality of the food are outta sight!
We stopped her on purpose on our way out of town and we all got the hot buffet, even my 4 year old. My husband and I also got pie. When it came round time for pie the server brought out a cookie for my 4 year old. And later we discovered she didn't charge us for the child buffet (likely because all my kiddo ate was a scoop of corn).
This place is stellar. Eat here always! Always. Seriously...always
Der Dutchman is a famous place to eat in this area. I have been there three times, but I haven't ever visited the restaurant portion because I've always been attending banquets. The food is home style, and it really does tastes like it's been cooked in your grandmother's kitchen with lots of love and care.
The staff is even better! They go above and beyond even though you're in a large group banquet setting. Most recently, I was attending a banquet where part of my family needed to leave early. The wait staff went above and beyond to pack meals for them after they had already left, and they made sure that it was hot and ready to go when I left. I didn't have to ask for them to do this, and I did not remind them at the end. Their service, kindness and thoughtfulness was just above and beyond. They really, truly treat you like family.
I highly recommend that you stop by. The roast beef is fantastic, and the fried chicken is as well. People come from long distances to buy donuts and pies. You can even purchase whole pies to take with you.
