If you go,go late July-early August for max blooms. Its small but well worth the trip! Felt like I was seeing a new kind of flower every time I'd turn my head. There were plaques throughout the field giving information about the prairie, vegetation, and history.
Do note there is no parking, you will need to park alongside the road. Pull off as much as you can, as while its back in the country there was a surprising amount of traffic with many of the drivers going extremely fast.
Interesting piece of history. Be sure to go in late summer to enjoy it in full bloom.
The royal catchfly is currently in full bloom (July 20, 2020). Also gray coneflower and bee balm. Perfect time to enjoy the wildflowers .
Great place for macro photography unplowed Parie land pioneer cemetery with wildflowers, butterflies bees, and small wildflowers, animals, remember to bring your camera especially if you are involved in close up photography. There is another cemetery hardest to find ask the local Amish for directions because it used to not be on any maps and if I remember correctly near a old farmhouse.
