I called camp HiYo to get a campsite for myself and my family to watch the eclipse. From the moment I spoke to someone I knew this place was special. They had created additional tent campsites to accomodate extra campers for the eclipse and these campsites were primitive. We knew it would be cold at night and they offered to run an extension cord from a nearby shelter house if we wanted to bring a space heater. Upon arrival we were greated by the nicest staff. Everyone was so friendly. Our site was perfect. Next to the pond and convenient to the shower house. The campground was clean and very well kept. While relaxing one evening our son was playing guitar and singing. Judy, the park manager asked him to come to the pavilion and play for the campground. He did and it was an awesome experience. All of the campers were so welcoming. Afterwards Judy invited him back to play any time. I can not say enough good things about Judy, her staff and Camp HiYo. We will definitely be returning and will recommend this wonderful place of relaxation to everyone we know. I can not imagine spending our eclipse weekend with any other people at any better place. Thank you Judy and Staff at Camp HiYo!
Easily the best RV park I've stayed at so far. The park itself is absolutely gorgeous, especially in the morning when the sun hits the dew.
The front desk lady was unbelievably kind and gave me great recommendations during my stay. I went to several of them and it made the whole stay even better.
You can't go wrong staying here.
We stayed 6 nights in the cabin here. It was the quietest campground I’ve ever been to. Everyone including all the staff was so friendly. We really enjoyed the in ground pool and fishing pond. My kids loved playing at the park also. The bath house by the pool was the cleanest bathrooms ever! I really appreciated that since I have two kids. The cabin was very clean. It was pretty small, which we expected. The only thing I wish is that there were hooks in the cabin to hold keys. Some hooks in the bathroom for a towel would have been nice too. I loved that fact that the cabin had a shower and toilet. Having an window AC unit was great too! Overall it was great place to stay! We slept a lot better than we had expected being that the cabin is so tiny. I wish there would have been golf cart rentals tho, I feel that would be nice especially for the kids for us to ride them around. You have to buy their wood from the store at the campground, the only downfall was that we needed to chop the wood as the pieces were very wide.
Overall we were very impressed by this campground and would recommend it to anyone :)
Just returned from a the night stay. We rented one of the small cabins on the lake. Here's my take:
Pros:
1. Ready check in and friendly staff.
2. Cabin was very clean as was the bath houses and the grounds. Very well taken care of.
3. Free WiFi was fantastic...strong signal across most of the campground
4. Pool was clean and the furniture was well maintained.
Cons:
1. The cabins are super close to each other. We only had a neighbor 1 night, but it was like we were sitting on top of each other.
2. You can't purchase local firewood and bring it in. Instead they sell slab wood. Price was reasonable, but the wood was very green and didn't burn well. That type of wood won't stack in the fire ring.
We really enjoyed our time. We will return.
