This place is an extremely unique climbing gym. Very welcoming, helpful, and chill staff. Felt like a great community in the gym as well. While the trivial things like parking and the bathrooms are not ideal (which is to be expected in such an old building that has been repurposed), the things that matter, like route setting, staff, etc., are great. Will definitely be going back.
Great adaptive reuse. Climbing in an old church is a unique experience. My friend and I both thought the boulder problems were accurately graded and creative. Minor issues includes lack of auto-belay, extremely old and outdated bathrooms, and having a members-only night seems unnecessary as if we were unlucky to have visited during that day, we wouldn't have been able to enjoy the place. Other than that, we very much enjoyed our time here.
Some of these reviews are confusing. I guess people like to complain about trivial things.
Yes, Monday is a member's night only. Leaving a bad review because you didn't get an exception to a rule is very Karen. It's posted on their website.
The owner doesn't have your typical "customer service" voice or demeanor, but that doesn't make him rude. That being said, I rarely ever even see him, and I've been going regularly for six months.
The routes are changed frequently. Their difficulty scale, while not exactly standard, works a lot better than the typical numeric scale, which is highly arbitrary.
They also have a weight room, and I frequently use the pull-up bar. They've crammed a lot of routes into a small building, and there are some unique touches they've added. Yeah the parking lot is terrible, but that's how it was when it was a church ⛪. I've had to park in the street a few times.
Overall I've had a great experience. The routes are challenging, with many different styles, the staff are friendly, and the price is competitive.
Update: We had a member route setting night, which was incredibly fun.
