1812 Food & Spirits

Wow! What a gem! Excellent everything. Our first time here will not be our last. We went out of our way to get there and it was absolutely so worth it. We will be back. It's not often you find such an excellent restaurant.

After a long day of walleye charter fishing, we cleaned up and visited 1812 Food & Spirits. Great atmosphere, it was clean, the drinks were excellent thanks to Kim, one of the bar tenders. The lady had walleye and I had a pork ribeye. Both were absolutely cooked to perfection! What a great place! We'll be back!

We are visiting this beautiful area and search out local experiences. We stopped for dinner and this is our review. In addition to the stars that I've provided, I need to recognize our server Alyssa. She was kind, very helpful, attentive and on spot. The food was terrific, including the low-cal (yeah, right) carrot cake which was sumptuous. On leaving our table I noticed the bar was full of people. That is usually a good sign that locals frequent the restaurant. Sure wish we sat there for that experience. We are only in town for a few days; should we go back or should we continue with our journey? I'll ask the realtor (kidding), but this would be my hangout if I lived here.

Let me get straight to the point. I came here because I saw a picture of their carrot cake. However I will start at the beginning of dinner. This is a very nice establishment. Everybody was well dressed, the facility was very clean and the staff was great. The overall cost made me skip a appetizer. For the first time in years I got prime rib, it was outstanding. The horseradish will make you cry, I loved it. The 1812 potatoes were spot on. The Cajun shrimp risotto was equally splendid, was not that spicy but had a good kick to it. The risotto was great tasting as well. The deserts had to be taken home. By the time I got home, it was time to dig in. The carrot cake was great, but the chocolate cake made the rest of the dinner worth the high price. This was more of splurge for us, and glad we did it.
