Scenic Rock Ledge Inn

Love this place. Quiet, clean, great view and location. The owners are wonderful! This will be my third year in a row staying there. The island is very quiet in September after Labor Day. Lots of great restaurants.

Pros:
Super friendly & helpful owners; an incomparable view of Lake Erie because, unlike most properties on Sand Rd., , this one sits about 30 feet above the lake; Sand Rd. Is lightly used (2 lane), but you are only a 5 minute drive away from a major shopping area which includes a Walmart superstore, numerous restaurants, hardware & boating stores & repair shops, etc.; beautiful, well tended grounds & flower beds with many colorful birds; our cottage couldn’t have been cleaner; a small kitchen with all the silverware, plates & utensils any renter would ever need; etc., etc..

About the only things I can think of that some people might consider less than optimal are:

(a) the interior is perfectly clean painted cinder block, not dry wall, but this is in keeping with the cabins having been built in the ‘50s or ‘60s.

(b) the heater is more than adequate, but some people might find it loud.

Jeff and Judy go the extra mile to please their guests. I've been all over the U.S. and there is no care takers like Jeff and Judy. Kind sweet people, but strict too, which is good. They won't put up with shenanigans! We love Jeff and Judy.

We stayed a week in Cottage #3 and found everything we needed to make our stay perfect and the cottage was clean and well taken care of. The location of these cottages is perfect for going up to the ferries to South Bass and Kelley's Island, the towns of Port Clinton and Sandusky and area state parks and nature preserves in addition to being located right on Lake Erie! We enjoyed having two bathrooms and the grounds are wonderfully cared for and the owners take pride in the gardens and more! We made sure we were back every evening to enjoy the sunsets from the swing overlooking the lake!

A group of 6 ladies (including me) had a reunion from our high school friendship lasting over 50 years and I was put in charge of finding a place (we were coming from all parts of the country). A friend recommended Rocky Ledge. From the start, owner Judy was totally professional, courteous and welcoming of us, accommodating exactly what we needed. Our 2 cottages were next to each other, charming and clean!! The view of the lake was outstanding and we watched beautiful sunsets from our cottages. The fire pit was great and placed in a beautiful setting. Anything we needed, Judy provided: extra towels, blankets and sheets, etc. Each of us agreed the spot was perfect, quiet and accessible to where we wanted to go during the day. I would recommend it to those who want a simple, neat and well-cared for retreat!!
