Every step here is amazing and peaceful. My friend brought me here. I love ❤️ it. I’ll see her again one day. 🙏
I had never been to this park, so we decided to not do the longest path. The path is rated "difficult". That seems appropriate. We took our time, the path was well marked. There were a few, but very few, signs of Spring. There was one area that holly trees were present providing a bit of encouraging green. There was also an area where wild rose was prevalent. Otherwise, there were a few small animals like chipmunks, squirrels, a few assorted various songbirds. The two things that stood out to me were a number of path areas were covered with sand to facilitate drainage and to avoid muddy patches and also a lot of drainage cuts made on the inclines to again facilitate drainage. The path was mostly well cared for and clear of debris. There was one low area that we had to cross a shallow stream. I would suggest taking a walking stick along to cross it and to maintain your balance on the steeper declines of the path.
Keep in mind that I am in good physical condition, but I turn 67 tomorrow. Younger people passed us up and they kept up a quicker pace. So, keep this in mind as you read this review. Our visit to Hampton was late March 2021. Enjoy!
The Adam Run trail's my favorite, tho after a rain it is a muddy horror. Lots of stream crossings, & a sign at the entrance warns some may be impassable at times. After a mile the trail leaves Adam Run & climbs thru the woods, including an evergreen grove planted by Girl Scouts back in 1968. It reaches a grassy path that leads left to Top of the World, an iconic red barn & two massive trees nearby. There's shade for a bench or two with an expansive view over a wildflower field pulsing with life. The trail winds gently downhill passing near Bath Rd & a small pullout before dropping steeply into the valley and the Hampton Hills main parking area. 3.2 miles.
I've enjoyed hiking the trails here. They are well marked, easy to follow and still provide for a good workout.
Very great place to get some exercise! It has the water, the woods, the field, the pine forest and the up and down hills. It has it all. I love coming here and it is a longer trail to get my steps in! 😁
