My grandparents and great-grandparents are buried here. It's a pleasant little cemetery with lots of really old grave sites. The gate was locked one Saturday I decided to stop by. It's definitely NOT haunted. In fact, I have great memories from Boston Township and spending time with family in this area while growing up.
According to this book I got from the library, this was once and Indian Burial ground. Local gravedigger had to "relocate" remains to make room for new clients. I agree with the notion that the US using eminent domain to seize this property is the most "haunting" thing about it. Same with Egypt Mound in Walton Hills.
This is a nice little Cemetery on top of a hill in the Boston area. I occasionally walk around here when I walk the Towpath in this area. The cemetery was featured in the Helltown movie but please don't believe anything that was said about the cemetery or the area. This area is beautiful and definitely not haunted.
There is some serious history here that is worth telling. This is more than your typical old town rural cemetery. It is a layer cake of history. Notice the odd mound shape which would be unusual in a river plane. It was originally an native american burial mound that was co-opted by early settlers. The next level of interment is the builders of the Ohio-Erie canal. Malaria and other diseases were prevalent and mortality was high. Finally, civilisation brought the third layer which you can see today.
It's a beautiful cemetery with lovely old stones. Don't believe the legends. There's no ghosts, witches, or anything paranormal at all. In fact, the little shops in the surrounding area are quaint and fun to visit. The real story is the the US government seized the land from the town through eminent domain to form the park...that's the only reason the town "ghosted."
Also, why on Earth are people reviewing cemeteries? I'm only doing this because it seems unfair it had a 2.7 rating. This is way better than a C+ cemetery.
