Although I had a lot of evidence in my favor, and I wasn’t guilty of the crime, the prosecution would not budge one bit. He knew that with my previous convictions, it was very unlikely I would get an acquittal regardless as to the evidence in my favor proving my innocence. Corey and Eric managed to work a deal with the prosecution that would take a fourth-degree felony and drop it to a misdemeanor. Also, I’m sure a lot of you would think ” Why would he plead guilty to a crime he didn’t commit? “....Well unfortunately the way our system is set up, it costs an extraordinary amount time and money to prove your innocence and if you go to trial and lose, you’ll get the maximum penalty imposed on you, which for me would have been a year. So sometimes it’s in your best interest to plead to a lesser charge in order to save you money and keep your job so you can continue to take care of your family.
