(November 29, 2019, 9:46 pm)After a discouraging experience of trying to find a place to provide flying lessons in the Lucas/Wood County area, I happened upon Eagle Air Flying Club at the Wood County Regional Airport in Bowling Green, OH. Though they are not a full-fledged flight school (like BGSU Aviation, which is next door), club members hire their own Certified Flight Instructor to give Part 61 instruction in the club's aircraft. After about 5 months of flying a leisurely 5-10 hours per month, I passed the check ride for my Private Pilot License! I estimate that I saved between $500 and $1000 by joining the flying club rather than using other nearby rental options.
