Okmulgee Lake & Recreation Area

This is the best lake within driving distance from the Tulsa Metro area. Not only the beautiful landscape but the water is much cleaner than that of some of the other Oklahoma lake's. The offer good fishing, swimming, boating and a great team that keeps this place beautiful and awesome even in the dog days of summer. Great job Okmulgee!

Nice sprawling lake that offers tent & rv camping, hiking trail, boats, kayaking and fishing.
Shore edge is a mix between beach, marsh and rocky mini cliffs.
Bathrooms are scarce and very outdated, camping and recreation areas were pretty small and close together- things will get crowded easily but if camping with a group of others this spot would be ideal
Plenty of trees and shade, good terrain
Decent amount of trash, cans, glass on the ground - no sign of a trash receptacle or dumpster near any of the spots where you would need them.
Only found one hiking trail and one scenic overlook.

Just a week day on the spur drive to Okmulgee Lake. Gorgeous lake and views and looking forward to camping there this year.

Beautiful area. The camp host was friendly and helpful, even bringing us a hammer to get our tent stakes in the ground and driving me up to his spot in his golf cart to get firewood and ice and back to our spot. Swim area has a steep concrete ramp that can get slippery, but we didn't have any problems with our water shoes. $12/night, $5/8 pieces of wood, $3 bag ice.
