(June 26, 2019, 4:10 pm)If you're in the area of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, do yourself a favor and visit the Tallgrass Prairie Preserve. Absolutely gorgeous landscape with lush grasses, wildflower, and wildlife flowing over rolling hills. The visitor center is an interesting stop, and the docents are great at answering questions and giving tips. Heading out from the visitor center, we came upon a huge herd of bison, which was fantastic to see. Beautiful place!

(October 2, 2018, 6:22 pm)Docents are knowledgeable and usually know where on the compound buffalo can be found. Be sure to visit the headquarters. That is the time to ask questions.
The day we visited we found buffalo on the "bison loop". A few "red calves" were with their mothers. Older youngsters showed typical brownish fur. A joy to watch. When overcast, photos can be great.
