(September 28, 2019, 2:46 pm)A small corner of Portland's Hoyt Arboretum, the Winter Garden has a collection of plants and trees that are particularly showy in winter. Without leaves to block the view, the Corkscrew Filbert's twisting branches are easy to see if you know where to look. One of the parks largest Western Red Cedar trees dominates this section. Other interesting trees include the Torch Maple, that shoots its blood-red trunk from the ground, especially dramatic when it snows.
