First time coming here and I'm in love! The park was more expansive than I thought, and it was hard picking a trail cause there were so many options. Trails were very well maintained (besides Bumping Knot, but the signs said as much), I didn't see many people at all, and, to top it off, I saw my first owl! Looking forward to coming back.
23.8.12 We were lucky enough to get a cabin. It happens to be a stone's throw from the meadow where we were going to watch my very first Perseids meteor showers. This was definitely glamping as our cabin has electricity, heater, fan and bathrooms & showers closeby.
It's another beautiful, but hot one! I love the Dairy Creek East loop! Heres the view from my chair! Slight breeze, friendly campers and lots of space! Banks-Vernonia trail ride before the end of the journey!
Everyone at the Welcome Center is so friendly and helpful!
The Welcome Center at L.L. Stub Stewart State Park sits on the right-hand side just after entering the park.
Part of it is an area where you can buy a day-pass for the park or if you choose an annual pass which is good throughout Oregon.
You can also buy discs for disc golf as well as bicycle helmets and water bottles.
Right next door is the Discovery Depot which offers some great park history as well as information on the wildlife and vegetation.
Fantastic state camping! Paved roads, clean toilets, running water and trees for my hammocks! No wifi, but cell coverage with Verizon.
Update: I’ve seen cleaner ports-potties than here in this state park. Don’t expect a clean bathroom facility.
