Quick Review:
I was incredibly impressed with Dr. Abraham’s bedside manner. He was very dedicated to answering my questions and making sure I was comfortable. His advice for post-op recovery helped me recover and return to activity very quickly. I strongly recommend Dr. Abraham to anyone that needs a hernia repair.
Detailed Review:
I had bilateral inguinal hernias corrected with robotic laparoscopic surgery performed by Dr. Abraham. This was my first real experience with surgery, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. I am a male in my early 30s who regularly runs and lifts weights.
I was referred to Dr. Abraham by my PCP, and was able to schedule an appointment quickly with his office. During the initial pre-op consultation, I was immediately impressed with Dr. Abraham’s bedside manner. He was very friendly and personable, and he explained the surgical process in a way that was thorough but easily understandable. While at doctor’s offices, I tend to ask a lot of questions and spend a lot of time discussing the answers. Dr. Abraham was happy to answer all of my questions completely; it was obvious that he is very passionate about informing his patients and calming their nerves. At no point in the consultation did I ever get the slightest impression that he wanted to just speed me through, as you may find in some offices. Another unique benefit to having the surgery performed by Dr. Abraham was that he himself has had robotic laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair surgery. It gave me even more comfort to know that he is able to fully appreciate every step of the process, from the perspectives of both the surgeon and the patient.
On the day of the surgery, everything proceeded on schedule. Prior to the surgery, Dr. Abraham stopped into my room to say hello and to see if I had any questions. I was still under anaesthesia during the post-surgery instructions (these instructions were already discussed with me prior to this point anyway), but my wife was similarly impressed with his bedside manner.
In the immediate period after the surgery, I was surprised with how little pain there was (I never needed anything stronger than ibuprofen). I tried to strictly adhere to the recovery plan that Dr. Abraham and I had talked about. I took ibuprofen on a regular schedule and iced my lower abdomen at regular intervals. In addition, starting the day after surgery, I tried to walk regularly on my treadmill. My surgery was on a Friday, and by about Monday, I had very little remaining discomfort. By about 10 days out, I felt pretty much normal.
During my post-op appointment, I was again impressed with Dr. Abraham’s excellent bedside manner. He was genuinely excited to hear that I had a good experience in recovery. After a quick check to make sure that the site was recovering correctly, he spent a significant amount of time answering all of my questions related to ramping my running and weightlifting back to normal. In the end, he helped me create a safe progression to return to normalcy. I should note that my appointment was his last for the day, and once again, I never once got the slightest impression that he was trying to finish my appointment quickly; he was solely focused on providing great care. The day after this appointment, I was able to lightly run and lift again with no pain from the surgery site or anywhere in my abdomen. Any difficulty I had was no different from taking 2 weeks off of working out for any other reason.
Overall, I can’t imagine how my experience with hernia repair surgery from Dr. Abraham could have gone any better. He provided great care at every step along the way, and his dedication to me as a patient was extremely evident. In addition, the surgery was a success, and his consultation on post-op care contributed greatly to a very fast recovery. I also feel compelled to note that every staff member that I encountered in his office or on the phone was extremely polite and pleasant. If you need surgery to repair a hernia, do yourself a favor and make an appointment with Dr. Abraham; you’ll be in great hands.
Dr Abraham is the surgeon you are looking for to perform your procedure. His bedside manner is exceptional. He takes his time explaining the procedure to you, the pros and cons of surgery, and answers any questions you have. I felt very comfortable allowing him to perform my surgery. After my inguinal hernia surgery; I'm able to do things again that I wasn't able to do before. I have no regrets on the surgery and would refer Dr. Abraham to my friends and family. I've spoken to other people that have had surgeries performed by Dr. Abraham and they were all very satisfied as well.
Excellent surgeon with a kind, considerate bedside manner. Highly recommended.
As a medical provider myself I have a lot of experience giving care but not much reviving it. So when I finally needed to have an inguinal hernia repaired I asked around to see who my colleagues would recommend near to where I live. Dr. Abraham came highly recommend. I was still nervous however after meeting with Dr. Abraham for my pre-op evaluation I could tell I was in good hands. My surgery was actually more complicated due to a second hernia found during surgery. However not only did Dr. Abraham repair both without any problems but he made it look easy. Today marks six weeks from my surgery and I couldn’t be happier with the outcome. I have always been very active and my ability to run and bike without pain was a big reason I needed to have surgery. It’s been two weeks back in the gym and both running and biking I don’t feel a thing. No pain at all. Thanks SO much Dr. Abraham!!
This man is an excellent surgeon with an engaging and kind bed side manner. He was so charming with my 77 year old mother as he joked with her while HE was putting down the bed rails so she could go for her walk. He takes his time in explaining what he did during the procedure , and what may have caused the situation. (I believe... it was the staple he found from a previous surgery she had over 20 years prior.) He is a rarity in this vast field of medicine. The kind of man who inspires confidence with his calm efficient ways. If you have the opportunity to be his patient, you will be rewarded with excellent care and knowledge plus enjoy the time he takes to spend with you. Keep up the good work doc!!
Thank you from a grateful daughter!
