“This is a great place to go with family. I especially enjoyed the elephants, although I am sure they regularly change their exhibits. If you go, plan on bringing extra money for drinks and food. A bottle of Aquafina was $5.35. You could also opt to bring your own water and snacks, but make sure you follow the rules. Today when we checked into the gate, we didn't have anyone check our bags. But always follow the rules they have on their site. It took us about 3 hours to walk briskly around the Zoo. If you want to take your time, I'd give it 5 hours and plan on eating. For those with walking troubles, you can rent a scooter in advance or rent a wheel chair. There are lots of hills to plan for, so make sure you have a good pusher for the chair. It is a wooded area, but sunscreen is still a good thing to have. Most of all, have fun! Hope this helps.”

“If you are searching for assisted living in the Pittsburgh area, I’d like to share our family’s experience with New Hope Gracious Living. My uncle David Schwartz needed a living arrangement that would provide personal care, cooking, cleaning, and everyday chores. As Uncle Dave’s guardian, I started looking for the right fit in May of 2015. There were 7 facilities in Pittsburgh I chose to tour, and New Hope was the fifth one. From the very beginning, I was impressed with the look and style – the front entrance was already completely different from other places I’d seen! As the owner Kathy took me around the facility, I could already picture my uncle living there. What I saw was more like a Bed & Breakfast than assisted living housing. I kept thinking of New Hope, even as I was on the way to my next tour. The more I digested what I’d seen and learned, the more I had a good feeling about it. As I discussed all 7 tours with my wife, I found that my mind was already made up! With such an important decision, I kept it to myself and the three of us revisited our top 3 choices. It was unanimous – we fell in love with New Hope. Uncle Dave had a choice of rooms, floors, and building location. He liked having a big closet and a private bathroom. There are plenty of indoor seating areas to read, watch TV, or socialize with others, plus a large dining room area with an oversized outdoor deck. But what he enjoyed the most was spending time on the front porch, where he could sit, relaxing and watching people and cars passing by. The buildings and dining area are always neat and clean. The on-site chef always cooked good meals that my uncle liked to eat. I was impressed that odors you may normally expect from personal care facilities were nonexistent. New Hope made plenty of improvements during Uncle Dave’s time there - investing money in quality interior & exterior updates. During these times of the Covid pandemic, New Hope is very cautious in regards to the health of residents and employees. Staff screens everyone as you enter the front door. Even when mandated safety rules were relaxed, New Hope kept theirs in place until they were satisfied that it was prudent. From the office and maintenance staff to the aides and med techs, New Hope staff have been on top of any situation we’ve encountered. I was comfortable in knowing that his everyday living needs and medications were taken care of. When I picked Uncle Dave up for a doctor’s appointment, all the necessary medical paperwork would be waiting for me. As his health began failing, we all hit a few bumps in the road. Any issues that came up were resolved satisfactorily. New Hope jumped in to help with the transitions in Uncle Dave’s care. Through over a year of hospice care, New Hope gave him comfort and made it possible for my uncle to pass away at his home in December 2021 – a home we call New Hope. Thank you for all the concern and care every one of you has shown my Uncle Dave, my wife, and me over the past 6 years. David Reisz”

“Very nice establishment. Services were professional and the staff is exceptionally helpful. I attended the funeral service of a close friend recently and I was impressed with the excellent service and friendliness of the staff. Gary and the Ball family go above and beyond what is expected to help others find inner peace. While times have definitely changed, and the manner in which families honor a loved one has also changed, the Ball Funeral Chapel's dedication to the families they serve has not changed with the Covid-19 Pandemic.”

“I had to change my review. The Forestry Dept. finally trimmed my city-owned Chinese ginkgo trees in July 2019. I actually was able to speak to the members of the Forestry crew and they are a great bunch of guys...hard working also. But here is the problem: 1. The mayor and the city want a tree canopy. However, they do not provide the budget, manpower or the equipment to take care of all the trees in the city. 2. Trees need maintenance. You can't just plant them and forget about them. They need to be inspected for disease and insect infestation. And they also need trimming and pruning. 3. The mayor and city council need to recognize that the Forestry Dept. has a monumental job to do. There needs to be an increase in the Forestry Department's budget, more employees need to be hired and more/updated equipment provided. 4. Put the bike lanes on the back burner for awhile and take care of the tree canopy. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The urban forester sent a letter to all residents on Seaton Street in Brookline earlier this year that Forestry was going to treat the city-owned Chinese ginkgo trees that drop foul smelling berries in the fall. The treatment was supposed to slow down or stop the fruiting process on the female ginkgo trees. The letter stated that the work would be done in May and September 2018. The treatments were never done. The urban forester decided that treating the trees would be "too expensive." But, she did not have the professional courtesy to send out a second letter informing the Seaton Street residents of her decision to stop the process. One would think that before the first letter was mailed, the urban forester would have done some homework and had quotes from various arborists.”

“When it was first suggested to me to take my spoiled labrador to a chiropractor, I thought someone was trying to play a cruel joke on me. My dog had 2 compressed discs in his back and was struggling with basic movement. Anyone who knows me knows that I will do anything for my dog. I never knew doggy chiropractors were real and thought this was someones way of playing with my emotions. I did some research and took a chance. The results after the first visit/treatment are simply unbelieveable. My dog was not able to lie or sit comfortably in my truck on the way to the office. On the way home, he was sleeply peacefully. We began with weekly treatments, then biweekly and made it up to one appointment every 3 or 4 weeks. My dog was "running" again. He would run several steps - something he hadn't done in a long time. He was playing again - and had a "puppy" look on his face. You could tell he was living a better life. We had a set-back at the beginning of this month and somehow Dr. Savko calmed me down and we started weekly treatments again. The progress that has been made is tremendous again. After 3 weeks, my dog is walking better and doesn't seem to be in pain or discomfort again. Dr. Savko is a hero in my world - for both my dog and I. I can't begin to express my gratitude for the better quality of life he has helped my dog have. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU.”

“I had an absolutely amazing experience. It was my first time coming here and Anna was amazing. She was able to get me fit in on short notice which was really nice as I had quite the knot in my neck. Great deep tissue massage, great prices, and a nice atmosphere. I would highly recommend this place to anyone in the area.”

“Fantastic experience. House was struck by lightning and caught fire. Needed to patch the roof in the meantime while insurance figured out a plan to repair. The two person crew showed up a couple hours after speaking with the service team and quickly tarped the needed areas. I’m not as worried about a week of thunderstorms while we go through this repair process.”
